About Us

John J. Sims was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton NY with a Bachelors Degree in Theater and Drama.  He then started a career in construction as an apprentice cabinetmaker at the Cornell University Art Museum.  Sims moved to San Francisco CA in 1975 and spent the next 20 years working as a cabinetmaker, carpenter and licensed building contractor.  In 1996, he earned a civil service commission as a San Francisco Building Inspector and worked as a District Building Inspector, CA certified Hospital Inspector and Construction Manager / Inspector  on innumerable private and public, residential and commercial construction projects. He retired in June 2019 and now does some consulting work.

Sims' primary residence is on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco. He owns the Villa Alta Dos in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Here is the link to the property on Airbnb: www.airbnb.com/rooms/4494078. 

Sims got his first camera in 2003 when he began to travel abroad regularly. Since then he has made 9 trips to Europe, 20 trips to Latin America and many other places around the USA. Most of these journeys are documented in the Website. Hopefully, there is more to come.
